About Us
The Behavioral Ecology Group (BEG) is a journal club at Stony Brook University open to anyone with an interest in animal behavior and ecology. BEG was founded in 1990 by Professors Pat Wright and Charlie Janson. Originally BEG focused solely on the behavior of non-human primates. In recent years, however, we have broadened our focus to include comparative studies, experimental research, and conservation covering a variety of vertebrate and invertebrate taxa.
Once a week, BEG members meet to discuss a scientific paper, present members' own research, or to report about recent fieldwork. In addition to these weekly discussions, BEG hosts guest speakers from other universities who present their recent research (see Past Guest Speakers for details). Funding for BEG is provided by the Graduate Student Organization (GSO) of Stony Brook University. For the Fall 2022 semester, our meetings will be held in a hybrid format in SBS N-501. |
